Medical outsourcing on a rise in America

Healthcare is the latest sector in the US to bow to the outsourcing frenzy. Escalating healthcare costs are making it difficult for many Americans to opt for medical services in the country. This applies to a number of companies also who are unable to sustain medical benefits. The result – public and private employee health plans that cover procedures conducted abroad. According to the Journal of Financial Planning (Oct. 2007), a heart bypass costing anywhere between $122,424 and $176,835 in the U.S. would only cost $20,000 in Singapore and $10,000 in India. The presence of premium hospitals equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a host of proficient medical providers who have often trained abroad add to the security offered by medical outsourcing forerunners like India and Singapore. The irresistible packages offered by these countries as part of their drive to promote medical tourism are also fostering patient inflow.
